The Parenting After Divorce Class is a program designed to assist parents in becoming better at communicating with their former spouses relating to their minor children. The goal of the program is to teach parents effective ways to resolve frequent issues that arise regarding parenting time and other parenting issues following a divorce or dissolution.
All parties to divorces or dissolutions with minor children filed in the Paulding Common Pleas Court are required to attend the Parenting After Divorce program. Once a party receives a certificate for completion of the class, that party will not be required to retake the class again for three years. If an action is reopened in Court and more than three years have passed since the date of their original certificate of completion of the class, each party may be required to take the class again.
The class is held on the last Thursday of each month at Westwood Behavioral Health Center, Inc., 501 McDonald Pike, Paulding, Ohio.
For the convenience of the parties, the class is held on the last Thursday of each month with a morning session beginning at 9:00 a.m. and ending at 11:30 a.m. and an evening session beginning at 6:00 p.m. and ending at 8:30 p.m. A party is free to attend either session. Some changes may occur to this schedule during November and/or December to accommodate the holidays.
All participants must register to attend one of the above session by calling Westwood Behavioral Health Center, Inc. at 419-399-3636.
The cost of the program is $25.00 per attendee and must be paid to the Clerk of Courts, 1st Floor Courthouse, Suite 104, 115 N. Williams Street, Paulding, OH 45879 prior to the session, if not previously posted as part of the court cost deposit. If you do not know if the cost of the program was posted as part of your deposit, you may call the Clerk of Courts at 419-399-8210.
COMPLETION OF THIS PROGRAM IS MANDATORY AS PART OF YOUR COURT CASE.
If you do not attend, the conclusion of your case may be delayed until you complete the course or your parenting time may be delayed or suspended until the class is taken.
